The last few weeks

I didn't think the time would come where I'd completely abandoned my blog for a few weeks...even while on vacation. A little lab puppy named pluto has made it happen though. What free time I had is now filled with walks, playing fetch, yelling "No!" and stealing our slobber stained possessions back from him. However, he's settled in for the night (gnawing on a raw hide bone) and I'm finally free of obligation.

The last few weeks (and last week, particularly) have seen a good bit of change. First and foremost, Katie has been offered a position at LSUS as an academic counselor and will be accepting and turning in her two week's notice with her current employer tomorrow. Her work days will look a little less like BET's Hot Ghetto Mess and more like a real work environment.

The only downside (to me) is that Katie will be travelling a few days a week during the fall months in order to visit high schools and do recruiting work. In those days, heaven help Pluto, because Katie won't be here to restrain me. Half the time I love him and the other half I'm plotting his doggy demise... but I digress.

A couple of other highlights for the record:

• We attended our first homeowners meeting a little over a week ago. If you are currently looking to move to a neighborhood with a HOA, ABORT ABORT! There will be old people there with nothing better to do that complain about how long your garage door stays open.
• Our backyard's grass is doing great, though a little weedy.
• We've still yet to sell the Accord. Katie's mom agreed to buy the accord, so we're just waiting on her to sell her car.
• We found that Pluto is actually a mixed breed. He apparently is half hyper-active demon, half lab.
