Update to the Xbox situation

I jumped the gun, it seems. I should've just called the Amazon.com people and asked if I could return only part of the bundle before I ordered it.

The bundle I ordered came with 10 games. I managed to sell the Xbox itself and 2 games for about 200 dollars over what I paid. However, I got taxed on the shipment, since it shipped from Toysrus.com, and I found out that I can't return part of the bundle to amazon. So, now I have 8 Xbox 360 games that I need to find a plan for.

All in all, I think I'll have broken even by the time I figure out what to do with the other games. It was exciting if nothing else, but next time, unless it's something I put more planning into or stumble across, I'm going going to avoid it.

Ebaying of the Xbox 360's

Things have gotten crazy in recent days with Xboxes not showing up on store shelves as expected. People have been bidding at around $1000 for the premium systems (assuming the buyers actually pay).

I've been trying to get in on this whole deal since the beginning, but I haven't had much luck in finding one myself. I was going to be in line for the launch at wal-mart, but that didn't exactly pan out. I thought that I'd be able to pick one up in the first two weeks or so for e-baying for sure, but that wasn't the case either.

Today, however, I happened to be checking xbox360tracker.com and I saw that amazon had their $1000 bundle in stock. Premium System ($400 retail) and 10 games ($60 per game). So, I figure that if I get the order before this weekend (when the new shipments are supposed to come in) I can put in on Ebay and make some extra Christmas money... much like last year's Nintendo DS fiasco.

We'll see how the plan pans out, but the general idea is to sell the game and two of the games on Ebay (hopefully for about $1000, then return the other games back to Amazon.com. If that doesn't work, and amazon won't accept them, I'll try to sell those on Ebay too. Those are minor details though. The important part is gettin rid of the console on Ebay for a huge profit, actually getting paid for the system, then breaking even (or thereabouts) on the rest of the games.

This one system may give Katie and I as much profit as all 10 or so of the DS's we sold last year. I'll update the blog with the results.

BTW, if you're into other gaming systems, stop by wal-mart. Since the local stores are clearing space for the 360 junk a good deal of the older games are being clearanced. I picked up a few GBA games today, one for myself, the others for donation to a salvation army christmas kid our family is sponsoring.
