Work is about to slow down quite a bit after tomorrow. You see, it's October 14th. Schools here have to submit data for what students where enrolled in school as of October 1st... and they get paid according to the number and type of student. They have from October 1st to October 14th to clean that data up, or submit student data to ensure that they get funded for all the students the provide instruction or services to.
Try as they may to screw this up, the state has made their system semi-workable so people will be finishing up the last bits of data entry tomorrow and that will mean that everyone will be less panicked after tomorrow... after all we're talking $5,000 dollars per special ed student that our software submits to the state.
This may mean the end of overtime... wait, I mean long hours. You see, at my work when you work past the time that you're paid... it's called working after work for no money. There's no such thing as overtime.
In other news, earlier tonight I went and bought WarioWare: twisted for my new Gameboy Micro. It may be the best game I've played since Donkey Konga, solely because it's extremely entertaining and completely different than any other video game I've ever played.
Here's the deal. The game comes with a gyroscope (a little thingamabob that detects motion) and a rumble pack in the game cartridge. So, the whole game is a series of mini-games in which you complete short little tasks in which you have to tilt the gameboy or press buttons at the right time. For instance, in one mini-game you're instructed to "Pound", a hammer appears on the screen and one nail is shown protruding past another series of nails. You have about 3 seconds to look at the situation, find that you move the hammer over the nail by tilting the gameboy and then you hammer with the A-button. Once you've smacked it until it's flush with the surface, you're done. If you pound it in under the time limit, you are not penalized, otherwise you are.
It's a very strange game that I can't explain very well... but trust me, the gameboy is worth the purchase to be able to play this game. Maybe the novelty will wear off soon, but I'm extremely happy with the purchase of both the gameboy and the two games (Wario and Donkey Kong Country... the original SNES game).
I only wish I'd bought it in Dallas last weekend and Fry's. I tried to tell Taylor and Katie that I thought it would be great, but they didn't believe me. They said, no, let's go. We just need to leave before you buy something you'll never use.
