In a move sure to boost their ratings, Jeopardy has announced that they'll be hosting a 15 week ultimate tournament of champions to crown an ultimate jeopardy champ. The winner will receive $2 million dollars, a pair of golden suspenders and matching pocket protector.
I'm actually glad they're doing this. After watching Ken Jennings spank everyone for a few months, it'd be interesting to see all the other champs go toe to toe with him.
According to Sony's press release, Ken will automatically be placed in the finals. Everyone else will have to fight it out for the opportunity to play against him.
This is the only part that I think is crap. If it's really gonna be an ultimate, monumental, gargantuan tournament of ultimateness, Ken should have to fight it out at every turn just like the other former champs. I know he's the top dog in recent years, but let him prove it against more than just two of the elite.
Anywho, they only say that it'll be in early 2005, so I guess I'll keep my ear to the floor concerning the date.

I think it's a good idea on jeopardy's part putting him in the finals. He's the person everyone would tune in to watch and he's gonna drive the ratings. If by the off-chance he was to get eliminated in one of the first rounds, that would be a huge disappointment.
Plus, he's already proven he's more than worthy. While i'm for fairness for all, I see why jeopardy did it and I would like to see him in the finals, so i dont mind.

I am so excited about the super tournament, but I agree that he should have had to start from the same place as the other contestants. I think maybe I just got a tad sick of the wonderful omniscient Ken and everyone saying that he's the smartest man alive. Let us not forget that he did get beaten... and by a woman! I had to throw that last bit in there just for fun. Anyway, I can't wait to see him get beaten again. HaHa! I'm just kidding, or maybe I'm not. Only Ken knows for sure.

Ken Jennings! Whoo! Ken Jennnings was the reason I dropped everything to watch Jeopardy at 7:30 each night. It's so cool that he's automatically placed in the final round for two people to go head to head against him. I can't wait!
